The game is based on personal experiences and the famous Egyptian LGBT+ incident in 2001 called the Queen Boat Incident (https://www.ankhfrance.org/queen-boat) or Cairo 52 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cairo_52).
The game is inspired by an Egyptian novel called :In the Spider's Room" by Mohamed Abdel Nabi (https://aucpress.com/9781617978920/). The game use the same storytelling framework from the book to explain the events. Although these events never happened directly to the game author, they used the framework to explore also their experience as a queer person who was raised in Egypt. It explores topics that face most queer people such as stigma, fear, and loneliness that could push young queer people towards hating themselves and sometimes suiciding. The author aims that the game might help younger audience connect and understand that being queer is not a problem and they don't need to change. The game also tries to raise awareness about LGBT life in Egypt and showing that our work as an LGBT+ community is not finished yet. There is a lot of work to be done to make sure the world is a safe place for everyone.
